Are you living your life or someones?
Are we still slaves?
The society can simply be divided into elite and working-class based on wealth. The elite class which holds power in business, politics is the life which everyone begs to live for. But in some way, we are living the life designed by them without our consciousness with no other choice.
Well in modern world, the elite class refers to corporates who shape every inch of our life.
Come, let’s go deep.
What is an Ideology?
It is a set of beliefs set by the members of the social group or that which forms the basis of a political, economic or any other system.
What is a Dominant Ideology?
It denotes the attitudes, beliefs, values, and morals shared by the majority of the people in a society. It is based on Karl Marx’s theory.
Starting stage of dominance
After human civilization started, we people started living together. People all thought it would be good to select a leader among them to protect and lead them, the one to decide everything based on the majority. Later as time changed, the post of the leader evolved. He became the king and then he became a god. People started to treat as they were some species from some other world, This is the time they started bowing their heads. It was the beginning of the dominant era. Later on, the so-called “Kings” enjoyed the feeling that they can control people that they will do anything for them.
So eventually they applied ideas which favors them and works for their benefit. Some Human minds feel the same. That category later became these elite classes. Starting from birth to death we are bowing to them for our needs. Marx believed that powerful institutions are controlling us and explained how we could conduct life on our own.
For example, the religion we people follow in mass numbers is a dominant ideology. Capitalism is another best example of dominant ideology. Their aim was to be dominant in politics and economics by capitalistic ideas.
Relating Dominant Ideology and Journalism
Media is used to show what this people has done and doing but the crazy thing is this media itself is owned by those people. Marx during his period itself spoke what would happen if media is controlled by them.
We can relate this dominant ideology with today’s media industry. Where a group of people decides what a mass number of people should watch or hear. We people know what’s happening around us regularly only through the help of media. they feed us. Believing them blindly leads to much fake news and because of this, the news which people have to be really aware of gets buried down. This started when journalism turned into a business. They started running for headlines and breaking news. We have to stop believing everything unless there is legitimate proof.
A Simple Example
This concept is injected into our mind from our lovely school days . Where marks are injected as virus. Charles Darwin said the strongest will survive. And thats what happens. Some students survive with the name “toppers” and the rest are titled as “slow learners”. When these toppers show their dominance in learning and occupy most of the time in class, automatically the other category who try to learn, improve themselves becomes demotivated, remains the same and this cycle keeps on running. Then in college, workplace it continues.
